Free time

My topic is what people do in their free time. The reason I picked this is it was the first thing that popped into my head. Also because I think some people in their free time spend too much time doing homework or other stuff and not having fun. I like to hang out with friends and family in my free time and just plain have fun, I also like to work on my homework for about a half an hour that way I have it done for school the next day. Plus I can’t hang out with anyone until my homework is done. Like yesterday when it was a snow day i went over to my cousin’s house and we were messing around with each other. What are some of the things you like to do in your spare time?

First Semester Portfolio - Piece I’d Like to Revise

It’s a cause effect essay. It’s about how i got in trouble when I was hanging out with my cousin during the summer time. My ideas came from since my cousin and I hang out together a lot I thought I would write about me and her. I would change it by spending a little more time writing it and paying more attention to what I was writing. Here is some of what it was about.

In the summer of 2009. But this was a summer is one I’ll never forget. Because I ended up doing a lot of things I’ve never done before and I’ll never forget them. One of those things is I had my cousin spend the night and my mom didn’t know about it. So she was blowing my phone up like crazy. When I finally answered, she said “Shylah Marie Stulken you need to get home in 5 minutes or else your cousin and you are grounded”. Well I didn’t feel like being grounded again so I told my cousin we got to get going. As usual she said and who said my mom so let’s go. I finally got her out of there a half an hour later. When we got home, we were in deep trouble I could tell by the look on my mom’s face and her tone of voice. The main effect was I ended up getting grounded for most of the summer.

First Semester Portfolio – Favorite Piece

It’s a poem. It’s about my mom’s friend house and why I love to be there so much. It’s my favorite because it’s one of my best writings I’ve done. Everyone that’s read it liked how detailed it was and so do I. My ideas came from being there most of the time so I knew what it was like and it was easy to write about for a poem. Here is some of it.

My friend’s house is comforting
Everyone is caring
It’s very active
People are always coming and going
It’s steaming
They love to grill out and cook
Being there is like a hilarious comedy
Every time I’m there; I’m always laughing
Very enjoyable to be at
Jagged in the backyard
I love to walk barefoot on the jagged parts
It’s very intense
The backyard is gigantic
Like a huge swimming pool
Energetic
Everyone loves to be outside

First semester reflection

I grew as a language arts student by, becoming a better reader I never used to like reading before. But now I know what kind of books i like I like to read. The kind of books I like to read are mystery book I like those books because I like to keep guess what is going to be happening in the next chapter. Now that I have learned that I like to read on rainy days or even when I’m just bored. I used to try to get interested in a book by like the third page or so I’d stop reading and that made me not like reading, so now that I’m interested in mystery I love to read.

Over the first semester I had learned about myself that I could try a little bit harder in some of my classes. Because when you work poorly you don’t get the grade you want or know you deserve. So into the second semester I am going to work harder in the classes I have a tough time with. For instance like studying more or paying more attention in class. When I do that I know that I’ll get the grade I want and deserve.

To be a better student in the second semester I need to, pay more attention to my teachers instead of trying to do the things all myself. If I do that I will be better off than not paying attention. I’ll get better grades the ones I know I deserve. Second off I could get fewer infractions. That means I’d have to get my homework done on time. This would be good for my grades also, because they wouldn’t have to deduct points off.
